AIKEN (Courtesy WFXG) – An abuse survivor decided to share her story with WFXG in an effort to bring awareness to the Cumbee Center and inspire others who may be experiencing abuse themselves. She said she survived an almost decade-long abusive relationship, with a man she described as a felon, drug addict, and father of her children. 

That woman asked WFXG to refer to her simply as Rachel.

Rachel said that relationship landed her in the hospital several times. She said it was one of those times, when she had a swollen head and crushed sinuses, that an emergency room nurse’s words moved her…
